North American fans still have seven months before U2’s 360° Tour makes its long-delayed return to these shores. But the superstar band sweetened the wait this week by unveiling a new end-date for the trek.

The final date of the postponed U.S. and Canada tour now falls on July 26 with the addition of a performance at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA. Public onsales for the tour-closing concert will begin October 18, with ticket prices ranging from $30 up to $250, according to U2’s official Web site.

The date closes out U2’s rescheduled 16-date tour itinerary, which was transplanted from summer 2010 to the middle of 2011 after frontman Bono underwent emergency back surgery in July. All stops on the calendar were preserved, though the tour’s routing order was slightly revised.

The U.S. and Canada portion of the jaunt launches May 21 at Invesco Field in Denver, CO. Prior to this week, the end-date was set for July 23 at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. Before hitting the states and provincers, U2 will complete a set of dates south of the border on May 14-15 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico.

The various North American tour stops are the only concerts presently listed on U2’s 2011 calendar. However, the veteran rock group still has one more round booked for the 2010 leg of its on-going 360° Tour — a 10-date, five-city venture Down Under. The year-end outing kicks off November 25-26 at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, and wraps with a December 18-19 stand at Subiaco Oval in Perth, Australia.

U2’s 360° Tour started in 2009 and marked strong ticket sales in Europe, along with a fast-selling North American tour leg later that same year. Those sales combined made U2 the highest grossing tour of 2009.

As it stands now, U2’s official site still shows tickets available for each date of next year’s North American outing. A number of bands are providing support for the summer 2011 trek: The Fray (May 21 – June 1); Lenny Kravitz (June 4 – June 18); Florence and the Machine (June 26 and 29); and Interpol (July 5 – July 26).
