Seeking to further capitalize on the wildly popular “Hannah Montana” franchise, Disney Book Group announced Thursday that it has acquired world rights to the first ever book from the show’s star, Miley Cyrus. The book will cover Cyrus’ roots in Tennessee to her record-setting triumphs in TV, music and film and will reveal how her grounded relationship with her family, especially her mother Leticia, helps her navigate the spotlight and encourages her to contribute and connect to the world in a variety of ways and grow up well-rounded.

Throughout much of 2007, Cyrus, Disney, promoter AEG Live, ticket brokers, venue operators and others were in the crosshairs of a media controversy surrounding hugely successful Hannah Montana concert tour because tickets to many of the shows were hard to come by or being resold for huge sums. Angry parents filed lawsuits and government officials launched investigations, leading to several states seeking to change their laws relating to event ticketing.

Whether the book addresses any of that is unknown, but it will feature never-before-seen photos, family stories and a look at her inner circle of loved ones, and will be published in early spring 2009. With nearly 15 million Hannah Montana books having been sold worldwide, Cyrus’ book should be a best-seller among her fans.

“I am so excited to let fans in on how important my relationship with my family is to me,” said Cyrus in a statement. “I hope to motivate mothers and daughters to build lifetimes of memories together, and inspire kids around the world to live their dreams.”

Cyrus stars in the hit Disney Channel series Hannah Montana that has ranked for two consecutive years as the #1 series among kids 6-14 on U.S. cable TV. Her #1 ranking Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus debut soundtracks have combined sales of over 8 million CDs to-date. Her sold-out 70-date concert tour, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds, was among the top grossing tours of 2007.

She also had the #1 film in the country with the Walt Disney Pictures 3D release, “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert.” A new studio album is due this summer. Cyrus will also star in Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming animated feature “Bolt” and is currently in production in Nashville on “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”
