Gregg Allman tour kicks off East Coast dates late in the year 

For the Allman Brothers Band‘s founding member Gregg Allman, it has been a long and difficult year filled with health complications and dashed touring plans. But after undergoing rigorous treatment for Hepatitis C and completing a series of shows with his classic Southern rock band, Allman has announced that he’s ready hit the road solo.

“I feel great. We did about 20 shows this summer and we were really hitting it,” Allman said in a statement on his Web site, referring to the Allman Brothers’ two-month run, which included shows with Bob Weir & RatDog and Phil Lesh & Friends.

Earlier in the year, the Allman Brothers Band was forced to postpone and then cancel its annual residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City due to Gregg Allman’s ongoing treatments for Hepatitis C. However, the musician’s online statement, the disease finally cleared Allman’s system after 24 weeks of Interferon treatments, allowing him to resume touring with the band.

Allman’s solo trek kicks off December 27 at the Capital One Bank Theatre in Westbury, NY, and continues into the New Year, wrapping with a January 10 concert at Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel in Salamanca, NY. Highlights include a New Year’s Eve concert at Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA, and a January 2-3 run at the Blender Theatre at Gramercy in New York, NY.

On the 11-date East Coast tour, Allman will be backed by his six-man band, composed of Floyd Miles (percussion), Bruce Katz (keyboard), Steve Potts (drums), Jay Collins (saxophone, flute), Mark McGee (guitar), and Jerry Jemmott (bass).
