After accompanying rocker Santogold on several U.S. tour dates, husband-and-wife duo Mates of State will strike out on their own headlining fall trek. The ReArranger Tour picks up November 7 at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ, and continues through November 23 at Ottobar in Baltimore, MD.
The 15-date tour will mainly hit the East Coast and its bordering states. Highlights include a November 11 show at the Black Cat in Washington, DC, a November 17 concert at Exit/In in Nashville, TN, and a November 20 gig at The Loft in Atlanta, GA.
Indie-rap duo Brother Reade will open on all nights of the tour except for Mates of State’s November 9 performance in Morgantown, WV, which is part of the MountainStage music festival. Los Angeles-based Brother Reade, comprised of Jimmy Jael and Bobby Evans, is supporting the group’s first full-length LP, 2007’s “Rap Music.”
Comprised of Kori Gardner (electric organ, vocals) and Jason Hammel (drums, vocals), Mates of State is touring in support of the group’s fifth studio album, “Re-Arrange Us.” The May 2008 release peaked at No. 6 on Billboard‘s Heatseekers chart, No. 11 on the magazine’s Independent Albums chart, and No. 140 on the Billboard 200.
Active since 1997, Gardner and Hammel released their debut “My Solo Project” in 2000. After that album, the pair signed to Polyvinyl Records for two more records before moving onto Barsuk Records for 2006’s “Bring It Back.”
