The annual unveiling of the artist lineup has occurred for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. This year’s edition of the popular three-day music festival gives top bill to Kings of Leon on April 15 and Arcade Fire on April 16, with Kanye West and The Strokes sharing headline status on April 17.

Tickets to Coachella 2011 will be available to the public starting January 21 at 10 a.m. (PST). A standard three-day pass will be $269, while the VIP pass will run $699. On the primary market, onsales will be processed on Ticketmaster.com, as well as through Coachella’s layaway plan.

The festival is returning to Empire Polo Field in Indio, CA, for its twelfth year. About 60 acts per day are already queued up to perform, although an exact schedule of performance times is still forthcoming. Top-billed acts also include The Black Keys, The Chemical Brothers, Robyn, Duran Duran and PJ Harvey.

Some surprises also abound on the current lineup. An on-the-rebound Ms. Lauryn Hill will grace the stage, as well as Bright Eyes (fresh from the studio with its first album in about four years), and the apparently reunited Death from Above 1979 — all of which have strong fanbases and could see high turnouts at their respective performances.

Jay-Z, Muse and Gorillaz headlined Coachella 2010, drawing an estimated 75,000 attendees per day. Only four months afterwards, event producer Goldenvoice confirmed the festival would return April 15-17, 2011.

More details about Coachella 2011 can be found on the festival’s official Web site.
