In between court and jail stints, Lil Wayne has dominated the North American tour circuit the past few years. He plans to continue the streak with another leg of the I Am Still Music Tour.
The artist’s 40-date summer calendar opens July 13 at the Comcast Theater in Hartford, CT. After visiting states and provinces from coast to coast, Weezy wraps his jaunt September 11 at the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX.
Stops along the way include July 17 at Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA; July 30 at Farm Bureau Live in Virginia Beach, VA; August 13 at Fire Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL; and September 2 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA.
Three concerts are booked for Canada’s eastern provinces. Those gigs are lined up for August 16 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON; August 17 at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC; and August 19 at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON.
Rolling Stone broke news of the summer tour, stating that ticket onsales would begin over the May 20 weekend. Neither LiveNation.com nor Lil Wayne’s official Web site have listed the upcoming summer concerts or released details about ticket prices.
The lengthy summer tour — featuring support from Rick Ross, Keri Hilson, Far East Movement and Lloyd — is a continuation of Lil Wayne’s first I Am Music Tour from late 2008 through mid-2009, and his more recent I Am Music II Tour at the start of this year.
Beyond his own tour plans, Weezy will appear at a couple of the summer’s biggest festival events.
First, the rapper is scheduled to headline the Hot 97 Summer Jam on June 5 at the Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. From there, Lil Wayne will head to Manchester, TN, where he’s scheduled to perform at Bonnaroo 2011 during the June 9-12 event.
The performer’s early 2011 concert dates marked his first since his incarceration at Rikers Island. He was released from the facility in November 2010 after serving eight months of a year-long sentence stemming from a 2009 conviction on weapons-related charges.
