The SnowGlobe Music Festival is set to kick off its second year this upcoming New Year’s Eve weekend. SnowGlobe 2012 is scheduled to take over the Lake Tahoe Community College Campus in South Lake Tahoe, CA with performances from over 40 artists covering electronic dance music (EDM), hip hop, and rock. Leading the 2012 lineup is popular EDM artist Deadmau5 and rapper Wiz Khalifa.

Deadmau5 is known for his high energy performances, full of light shows and the ultimate party atmosphere. Deadmau5’s most recent album >Album Title Goes Here< was released this September, and while it didn’t make the United States charts it did see success on the United Kingdom and Canadian album charts. Prior to performing at SnowGlobe Deadmau5 will be headlining Contact, an EDM music festival in Canada, on December 26.

Rapper Wiz Khalifa burst onto the scene in 2010 with his smash single “Black and Yellow” and has since made a name for himself within the hip hop world. Wiz Khalifa’s highly anticipated sophomore studio album O.N.I.F.C. has run into a few delays having release dates in August and September that were not met. Currently the album is being advertised with a December 4 release date. The album, which contains recent single “Work Hard Play Hard,” is being promoted by Khalifa and Taylor Gang on the 2050 tour.

In all there are 43 artists set to hit the stage. Some notable remaining members of the lineup include Chromeo, Beats Antique, Big Gigantic, and Laidback Luke.

In addition to these established or up-and-coming artists SnowGlobe 2012 is getting some local acts into the mix. The festival along with Smooth Productionz held a contest for local artists to vie at the chance to hit the stage. With the help of votes from the general public three bands of the eight finalists were selected to partake in this year’s festival.

Located in a dream location for winter sports enthusiasts SnowGlobe 2012 is providing fans with some high flying entertainment in between performance sets. Titled “Big Air” the event will showcase local professionals as they drop in and hit an eight foot ramp full speed giving them ample air to show off their skills.

Tickets for SnowGlobe 2012 have already been released to the general public. Early bird passes have already sold out, however, general admission tickets are still available. In addition there are 3-day VIP tickets which offer a number of amenities including access to a heated lounge with open bar, elevated viewing of the main stage, and champagne to ring in the New Year, among others.

Fans of hip hop, rock, and especially electronic music are sure to enjoy this three day music festival. While the SnowGlobe music festival is still in its infancy, it is definitely showing signs of becoming a long lasting tradition like so many others.
