The legendary rock artist Paul Simon has announced the final concert of his “Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour,” set to take place in his hometown of Queens, New York.

Earlier this year, Simon revealed dates for his last-ever tour, hitting dates in the U.S., U.K., and Europe. His first leg of the tour kicked-off in Vancouver on May 16 and hit cities like Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Austin before wrapping up in Nashville, Tennessee on June 20. He will head to Sweden next to play a show in Stockholm on June 30 before making stops in Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, England, and Ireland.

Another string of U.S. dates were announced, which will commence this September in New Orleans, Louisiana. Simon will play shows in Florida, Georgia, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, and Pennsylvania before heading to New York City’s Madison Square Garden. While fans thought the two-day show at MSG would be Simon’s last, he has revealed the final show in Queens, New York on September 22 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

The announcement also stated that Simon and his band will bring his career-spanning setlist of hits and classic tunes, along with a “unique selection of songs” to the stage, according to Variety. This show will also mark one of the first major concert events at Flushing Meadows Corono Park in decades. While the Parks department denied applications for large-scale multi-day festivals in the past, Parks has approved Simon’s show.

In a statement sent to Variety, Parks said that Simon’s show has been allowed since the one-day concert will have a “significantly smaller footprint and impact on park use than previous proposals,” and they “look forward to welcoming Paul Simon back to his hometown for the last stop on his farewell tour.”

“When Paul Simon sings ‘Homeward Bound,’ there’s no doubt he means New York,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said. “The grit, beauty and complexity of this city are woven into Simon’s most haunting songs, and our greatest venues have formed the backdrop of his performing career. It’s only fitting that this son of Queens comes home to Flushing Meadows Corona Park.”

Flushing Meadows Corono Park is near the singer’s alma maters, Forest Hills High School and Queens College. Congressman Joseph Crowley described this performance as a “once-in-a-lifetime event” and the city is proud to share his last show with him in the borough of Queens.

“It seems more like fate than coincidence that I should do the final show on this final tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park,” Simon said. “I could have ridden my bike from home to the park in about 20 minutes, when I was a kid. But this is less a goodbye than a farewell. Thank you all for the ride, I had a great time.”

Tickets to Simon’s final show will go on sale on June 29. Check out Simon’s full list of remaining tour dates below.
