The app-based ticketing platform, FlipTix, announced that it has renewed and expanded its agreement with PCB Entertainment.

Through the renewed agreement, FlipTix will be the official “flip” ticketing platform for the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam once again, as well as the SandJam Fest this year. The deal also includes a special Pre-Event Flip option, allowing a festivalgoer to list their passes for sale at the last listed box office price and receive most of that money back once another fan purchases their tickets. FlipTix CEO Jaime Siegel said in a press release that the team is “delighted” to be working with PCB Entertainment for the second year and “expanding our relationship is a testament to the effectiveness and validity of the FlipTix platform.”

PCB Entertainment’s COO Mark Sheldon noted in the release that FlipTix were “great partners” during their first year of the partnership.

“Our customers had flexibility that we have never been able to provide before, resulting in rewards for them and more revenue for us,” Sheldon said. “We are excited to expand our relationship and bring the FlipTix platform to SandJam in 2020, too.”

FlipTix is one of a kind; the platform allows concertgoers to buy or sell a ticket when exiting a venue through their mobile app. By pressing “I’m gone,” they let fans outside the event know that a ticket is still available. A price is then set based on the amount of time remaining in the event, and the seller can receive remuneration in the form of cash, credit, merchandise, or gift card. The buyer can pick up the activated wristband at a FlipTix location at the venue, or simply get a digital ticket delivered to their phone.

The mobile app launched at Kaaboo-Del Mar Festival in September 2018. Following the launch, FlipTix partnered with Stage Left Entertainment and BUKU Festival as their official resale partner.

“Life happens. People want flexibility in life. What we bring to the market is the ability for fans to have flexibility,” Siegel said in an interview with TicketNews. He explained how concertgoers look at a festival lineup and sometimes only want to see a certain number of bands. With FlipTix, they can buy tickets to the festival knowing they’ll be able to flip it and get something back in return.
