Frank Turner has announced an initiative to support grassroots music venues across the UK.
Turner has pledged to donate £1 from every ticket sold during his upcoming UK tour to independent venues. The commitment marks a collaboration with the Music Venue Trust (MVT), a charitable organization dedicated to preserving and nurturing local music venues.
The partnership aims to provide financial support to grassroots venues, many of which have faced significant challenges in recent years. Last year, 16% of independent music venues were forced to shut their doors permanently.
Turner’s involvement with MVT is not new. As a patron of MVT, he has actively participated in advocacy efforts, including performing at the House of Commons during the launch of MVT’s 2023 Annual Report. Turner has also been a vocal supporter of implementing a £1 ticket levy at large-scale music events to channel funds back into grassroots venues.

Notably, earlier this year, Turner set a new world record by performing 15 concerts in 15 different locations within 24 hours, all at independent venues.
Turner’s UK tour, scheduled from April 1 to April 19, is slated to take the acclaimed singer to Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cambridge, Oxford, Norwich, Ipswich, Swansea, Bristol, Southampton, and Folkestone.
