Elton John and Billy Joel have announced the first block of U.S. dates for their 2009 Face 2 Face Tour. The month-long March outing will be followed by more U.S. performances in May and later in 2009, as well as North American and international shows in 2010.

An extensive Celtic Woman tour will launch in the U.S. in mid-February and continue through early July with more than 70 performances. … Rock band Staind cancelled one show in Toronto on their current tour when frontman Aaron Lewis became ill with bronchitis. … The 19th annual Tibet House benefit concert and dinner has announced its 2009 lineup, which includes performances by Philip Glass, Patti Smith and Vampire Weekend, among others.

Britney Spears will extend her stay with encore performances at a handful of previously announced stops on her 2009 Circus tour. The rebounding pop star will now perform on March 13-14 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, on March 18-19 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, on April 16-17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, and on April 28-29 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL. One new venue has also been added to the books for a March 23 gig at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. The singer has also extended her residence at the O2 Arena in London, England, for what has been announced as her only European performances. Spears will now headline a total of eight nights at the arena: June 3-4, 6-7, 10-11 and 13-14.

3 Doors Down are currently on the road, performing a series of rescheduled dates, but the rockers also have plans for a fresh set of shows early in 2009. The band will perform at least five shows in the New Year, starting with a January 22 gig at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA. From there, the band heads south for a January 24 show at Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, TN, a January 27 concert at Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee, FL, and a January 28 gig at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, FL. For the final show of those currently announced, 3 Doors Down will return north for a February 23 performance at the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, NY.

The Eagles have added dates to their Long Road out of Eden tour time and again — and 2009 is starting out no differently. The country-rock icons have extended their North American jaunt by nine dates in March. The new leg of the ongoing outing begins with four dates in Canada: March 7 at Rexall Place in Edmonton, AB, March 10-11 at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, Sk, and March 13 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB. Five U.S. dates follow on March 15 at Fargodome in Fargo, ND, March 17 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, MO, March 24 at Quicken Loads Arena in Cleveland, OH, March 28 at Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO, and March 29 at Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH.

M. Ward has unveiled plans for an 11-date tour of the U.S. and Europe for winter 2009. The singer-songwriter begins his trek with four East Coast performances: February 18 at Somerville Theatre in Somerville, MA, February 29 at Apollo Theater in New York, NY, February 20 at Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, PA, and February 21 at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC. After three gigs overseas, Ward returns for four West Coast concerts: March 4 at Music Box at Fonda in Los Angeles, CA, March 5 at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco, CA, March 6 at Showbox at the Market in Seattle, WA, and March 7 at Aladdin Theater in Portland, OR.
