The metalheads of As I Lay Dying are hitting the road for a headlining tour this fall following their return to the music scene last year.
The Shaped By Fire Tour will kick-off in Las Vegas, Nevada at the House of Blues on November 15, followed by gigs in New Orleans, Boston, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Denver. They’ll make stops at venues like The Complex in Salt Lake City, The Fillmore Charlotte, and Ace of Spades in Sacramento before wrapping-up at SOMA in San Diego mid-December. Throughout the outing, they’ll be joined by After The Burial and Emmure.
In 2018, As I Lay Dying returned after a five-year break, following frontman Tim Lambesis’ six-year prison sentence for conducting a murder-for-hire plot against his now estranged ex-wife. He served two and half years in prison before being released early. Since his return, Lambesis penned a letter, apologizing for his “appalling actions” and admitted to letting down his fans and anyone who had looked up to him in the industry.
The group released their first single in almost five years, “My Own Grave,” and began to tour again. Earlier this year, they crossed North America, making stops in New Haven, Detroit, Tampa, and Pensacola, among other cities. However, the band has still received harsh backlash from some music fans, denoting Lambesis’ actions as deplorable. One venue in Memphis, Tennessee cancelled the group’s show after the public demanded for the show to be shut down.
This April, As I Lay Dying released another single “Redefined.” It is unclear whether or not this track, along with “My Own Grave,” will be a part of a forthcoming record. If so, this will be their first LP since 2012’s Awakened.
