Metal band As I Lay Dying have announced spring 2019 tour dates following their controversial reunion with lead vocalist Tim Lambesis last year.

This past August, As I Lay Dying announced its comeback tour after five years following Lambesis’ six-year prison sentence for a charge of solicitation of murder. Lambesis had hired a hitman in a murder-for-hire plot against his wife at the time, which was unsuccessful, and was released after two and half years. In lieu of his return, the singer released a letter to fans, apologizing for his actions.

“To the people who looked up to me as an artist, I let you down in so many ways,” he wrote.
“I tried to show my best side to the public, while feeding an ugly growing monster behind closed doors. I wrote lyrics about the person I wanted to be rather than the person that I was. I was living a life that lacked empathy and viewed everything through a self-motivated lens.”

The band embarked on a short North American tour in November, followed by completely sold-out shows throughout Europe. However, fans were conflicted on whether or not to see the band; while people still wanted to enjoy music from As I Lay Dying, they did not want to support Lambesis. Prior to the trek, the group released “My Own Grave,” outlining the singer’s feelings.

“People who support AILD are not supporting the person I once was, because part of my life’s work now is to undo the hurt I’ve caused and to help others in addiction,” Lambesis wrote in December following the backlash from fans. “Instead, I think AILD fans are supporting the belief that people can change.”

AILD’s new spring tour dates will kick-off on March 15 in St. Louis, Missouri. They’ll make stops in cities like Louisville, Detroit, New Haven, Columbia, Jacksonville, and Nashville before wrapping-up in Springfield, Missouri on April 6. At this time, no opening acts have been announced.

The group hasn’t released any new music aside from “My Own Grave,” which follows 2012’s Awakened. However, in their promo video for the North American tour, potential new music can be heard in the background.
