The music festival experience platform Festicket announced the appointment of Ed Walsh as the Strategic Commercial Director this week.

Walsh, who was known as the former Music Account Director at Eventbrite for the past two years, will help provide industry insight in his new role. While at Eventbrite, Walsh worked with some of the company’s biggest clients like The MJR Group and the global clubbing brand elrow and developed the overarching accounts strategy at the company. Previously, he worked at NVS Music Group, Broadwick Live, and Mainstage Travel.

He believes that he’ll make a great addition to Festicket and Event Genius because of his prior experience, noting in a press release that “having a complete 360 degree product set is something I think is going to be a game changer in the ticketing space and I really want to be part of helping the team fill that potential.”

Yonas Bay, the CCO at Festicket, explained that the team was searching for the best candidate for the role, as they wanted to find someone in the industry that had experience “on both sides of the fence” to help offer something unique to the industry.

“This role is a natural fit for my skill set and experience,” Walsh said in a statement. “Having previously worked on the promoter side of the industry, I feel I have a unique outlook that I can bring to the business. When I learned about the aquisition I thought it was a bold move. There is certainly room for disruption in the ticketing sector at the moment, and the product we have here is ready to lead that.”

Festicket, founded in 2012 by Zack Sabban and Jonathan Younes, has worked with over 2,000 festival organizers like Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Reading and Leads. The company offers ticket packages that include tickets as well as accomodation to events.

Earlier this year, Festicket acquired the point-of-sale platform Event Genius and its consumer-facing brand Ticket Arena. Additionally, Festicket launched a new “Pay with Friends” feature in September, which allows groups to reserve tickets by paying for part of a full payment up-front.
