Getting its start as the "Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio" in 1923, the company more commonly known simply as "Disney," is now the biggest media conglomerate in the world. Currently headed by Robert Iger, the entertainment goliath owns ABC, ESPN, Touchstone, Pixar, and Miramax Films, and internally controls four separate divisions: Walt Disney Studios, Parks and Resorts, Disney Consumer Products, and Media Networks.
Loveable characters like Bambi, Snow White, Mickey Mouse, Pinocchio, Cinderella, and the more recent WALL-E, among countless others, owe their existence to Disney. Among some of its films are the 2010 live-action remake of "Alice in Wonderland," the fourth installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean," and a remake of the "Swiss Family Robinson." "Pirates" and "Robinson" are due in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Multi-talented Miley Cyrus has proved to be a marketing cash cow for Disney over the past couple of years. Cyrus also became the youngest artist to have two No. 1 hits in less than a year. In 2007, the 15-year old followed that record with a two-disc set, Hannah Montana 2 / Meet Miley Cyrus, which reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 and has since earned triple-platinum status.

Disney’s Hannah Montana show gets sued, Céline’s upcoming album gets a name change, and the NFL charges forward without Michael Vick in a TicketNews Top Tens teeming with controversy.
Hannah Montana continues to make headlines, and not just because her tour is selling like U2, Madonna, or the Rolling Stones. With the teen queen enjoying a second week atop the TicketNews Top Tens rankings, writer Morris Taylor “Buddy” Sheffield is seeing dollar signs – money he feels is owed to him by Disney.
Sheffield claims that the empire that runs the Happiest Place on Earth ripped off his idea for a television show in which a teenage protagonist leads a double life as a middle-schooler hiding a secret rockstar identity. Sheffield’s case has the advantage of the suspicious coincidence that he pitched his Rock & Roland idea to Disney in 2001, Disney has the advantage of better lawyers and the understanding that there really are no original ideas left in the world, and both sides have the advantage that most Hannah Montana fans aren’t old enough to remember Jem. . .
