Leonard Cohen, born on September 21, 1934, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, poet and novelist. Cohen's music has gone from European folk to pop, cabaret and world music. He has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is also a Companion of the Order of Canada which is the nation's highest civilian honor.
Cohen's first book of poetry, "Let Us Compare Mythologies," was published in Montreal in 1956, and his first novel, "The Favourite Game," was published in 1963. He often writes about the exploration of religion, isolation, sexuality and interpersonal relationships. He has published 12 books dating from 1956 to 2006.
Leonard Cohen tour ends with new North American concert dates
Concert-goers and critics alike have heaped praise on Leonard Cohen for the past two years, as he traveled the world for his first tour after 15 years of semi-retirement. But this winter, the revered singer-songwriter concludes his lengthy trek once and for all in North America.
The final stretch of concert dates begins with a December 2 concert at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. After completing the last tour date in his native Canada, Cohen will veer into the United States for performances on December 5 and 6 at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA, and December 8 at the Rose Garden's Theater of the Clouds in Portland, OR.

Leonard Cohen will celebrate his birthday by returning to the stage after a fainting spell cut short his September 18 concert at Velódromo Luis Puig in Valencia, Spain.
The singer-songwriter collapsed part-way through his song "Bird on the Wire," early in the night's setlist, according to an Associated Press report out of Madrid. Cohen was seated on stage for an instrumental break in the song when he fainted.
Leonard Cohen tour returns to U.S. for more dates this fall
Acclaimed performer Leonard Cohen will follow his fast-selling and high-demand spring tour of the U.S. with a second round of shows later this year. The final leg of Cohen's 2009 World Tour begins October 17 at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, FL, and ends its 15-date run on November 13 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
While Cohen plans to visit many new markets during the one-month trek, he will also make repeat appearances in several cities. He'll return to New York City for an October 23 concert at Madison Square Garden to follow his three earlier shows at the Beacon Theatre and Radio City Music Hall. The acclaimed Canadian will also perform his third concert in Chicago on October 29 at Rosemont Theatre in Chicago, IL, an encore of his spring two-night stand at the Chicago Theatre.

The 28-city tour, promoted in the U.S. by AEG Live, begins April 2 at The Long Center in Austin, TX, and wraps June 2 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO.
Cohen's run includes several multiple-night engagements across the nation: April 10-11 at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, CA; April 13-14 at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA; May 5-6 at Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL; May 16-17 at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY; and May 29-30 at the Wang Theatre in Boston, MA.
Leonard Cohen tour plots first U.S. dates for NYC, Coachella
Iconic vocalist Leonard Cohen returned to the international circuit last year after nearly 15 years away from the public stage. Now the 74-year-old singer has confirmed his first dates in the United States since 1993.
Cohen's first performance is scheduled for February 19 at the recently renovated 2,800-seat Beacon Theatre in New York City. Tickets for the one-night event have a face value ranging from $65 to $250.
