The New York Jets were established in 1960 as an original member of the American Football League. It was as part of the AFL that the Jets made their mark in football history, when they faced off with the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl. Legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath guaranteed victory that game and delivered on that promise, that guarantee is still talked every time another athlete attempts to follow suit. The Jets joined the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, and now play in the AFC Eastern Division.
Beginning in 2010, the Jets will play their home games at the new $1.4 billion stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. While fans were initially excited for the prospects of a new stadium, after the team announced their new Personal Seat License policy, that excitement turned to anger. Fans began to lash out at the team, holding rallies over the prospects of having to pay extra just for the right to buy season tickets. It remains to be seen how successful the PSLs will be for the Jets.
Tebow-to-Jets buzz doesn't boost tickets yet
The New York Jets' new backup quarterback has a sandwich named after him at the Carnegie Deli and his picture on a billboard above the Lincoln Tunnel.
Welcome to New York, Tim Tebow.
With Manning joining Broncos, Tebow dealt to Jets
Peyton Manning barely had time to try on his new orange No. 18 jersey before the Denver Broncos created more NFL shockwaves by trading Tim Tebow to the New York Jets.
A day after welcoming future Hall of Famer Manning to Denver, which turned Tebow into a one-year wonder as the Broncos starting quarterback, Tebow and a seventh-round draft pick were shipped to the Jets for a fourth-round and a sixth-round pick.

Winnipeg Jets ice ticket brokers, launch own ticket resale site
The newly minted Winnipeg Jets, which has taken a decidedly anti-broker stance since the team moved to the city in the spring, is launching its own ticket resale site.
Once completed, the new site will be part of the team's official Web portal and will allow season ticket holders to resell tickets for face value. Like other National Hockey League team resale sites, the Jets' destination will be powered by Ticketmaster's TicketExchange, and it is expected to be up and running next month before the team starts preseason games.
Jets vs. Giants preseason tickets spark interest
When it comes to the National Football League, the term "hot preseason ticket" is usually a misnomer. There is little to no demand to see games for which owners charge fans regular season prices to watch starters play no more than a handful of series and to see dozens of unknown players take the field in the second half.
But with fans eager to see football again after the season was endangered during the nearly five-month lockout, some of the preseason games are popular targets on the resale market — for now, anyway.
Plenty of New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers tickets available on the resale market
Ho hum. The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting the AFC Championship Game. What else is new?
That seems to be the philosophy of ticket brokers and buyers as the Steelers prepare to battle the New York Jets Sunday, January 23 for a spot in Super Bowl XLV two weeks later. The Steelers are hosting the AFC title game for the second time in three years, the third time in seven years, the fourth time this century and the seventh time in the last 17 years.
New York Jets make more seats available in new stadium
After slashing prices earlier this summer for thousands of personal seat licenses (PSLs), the New York Jets this week are releasing more tickets in an effort to fill their new shared stadium this season.
The single-game seats, about 2,000 of them, are in the upper decks and do not require a PSL to purchase. Unlike the stadium's other tenants, the New York Giants, the Jets did not require PSLs for about 27,000 seats in the new stadium, and the 2,000 newly available seats are out of that allotment.
New York Jets slash prices on thousands of unsold PSLs at their new stadium
The New York Jets, which have struggled to sell personal seat licenses (PSLs) at the new Meadowlands stadium, are throwing a hail mary.
In an Associated Press story released today, June 11, Jets’ Executive Vice President for Business Operations Matt Higgins announced that there will be significant cuts to PSL fees in certain sections of the stadium for the upcoming NFL season.
New Jersey sports authority criticized for New York Jets and Giants ticket deals
The New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority (NJSEA), already the subject of a review of its ticket policies, is finding itself under scrutiny again, this time for ticket deals with the New York Jets and Giants for games this coming season at the new Meadowlands Stadium.
The authority is reportedly paying nearly $1.1 million combined for hundreds of tickets to see the two teams play in the new stadium, tickets that will be sold to state politicians, sponsors and other VIPs, which is part of the NJSEA's long-standing policy.
New York Jets and Giants still have seats to sell in new stadium
The new Meadowlands Stadium appears likely to land the biggest football game of all before the New York Giants and Jets even officially set foot into the $1.6 billion facility. The two organizations held a press conference this week in which they discussed the joint bid they made to host the 2014 Super Bowl (Super Bowl XLVIII).
The NFL will award the game to either New York, Tampa or South Florida on May 25, and the New York Post reported in its Wednesday, May 12, editions that the Meadowlands is the leading candidate to host the game thanks in large part to an endorsement from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
