With his latest single burning up the charts, reggae-fusion artist Sean Kingston will hit the North American tour circuit this fall for a headlining run. The eight-week itinerary includes nearly 40 concerts, beginning September 15 at Harbour Station in St. John, NB, and ending November 13 at Luther College in Decorah, IA.
Along the way, the rising star will stop for performances on September 18 at The Guvernment in Toronto, ON; October 4 at Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC; October 17 at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas, NV; November 4 at Blender Theatre at Gramercy in New York, NY; and November 8 at the House of Blues in Chicago, IL.
Up-and-coming rap duo New Boyz will support throughout the tour. Popular rapper Flo Rida will also be on the bill for three consecutive concerts in California on October 12 at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, October 13 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, and October 14 at Fox Theatre in Salinas.
Tickets for select dates of the tour are already on sale on Ticketmaster. The next round of public onsales starts on August 28.
Kingston will be promoting his sophomore album, “Tomorrow,” scheduled for release on September 22. The record features the Platinum single “Fire Burning,” which has hit a No. 5 peak on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart so far. The effort is a follow-up to Kingston’s 2007 self-titled debut, which hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and contained the chart-topping single “Beautiful Girls.”
Unlike many artists on the R&B and hip-hop charts, the Jamaican-American performer makes a conscious effort to keep his songs clean and positive.
“With this album I thought it was important to not use curse words or negative language that might offend people,” Kingston said of his debut album on his official Web site. “I write my own songs, so it’s like if I can write a great track without using those words, then that’s the style for me.”
Before hitting the stage as a headliner this fall, Kingston is scheduled to perform at the Virgin Festival in Toronto, ON, on August 30. The two-day event, headlined by Ben Harper & Relentless7 and Nine Inch Nails, was recently relocated to downtown Toronto from the more rural Oro due to organizers’ concerns about soft ticket sales.
