Venue ticketing solution specialists AudienceView Wednesday announced that Fred Rosen is the company’s new Chairman. Rosen, former CEO of Ticketmaster from 1982 to 1998, is considered one of the true innovators of the ticketing industry.

The five-year-old AudienceView provides white label ticketing solutions to more than 80 clients and 120 venues in North America, the U.K. and Asia, and allows users to control all aspects of its event ticketing offerings by becoming their own primary-ticketing vendors.

As a business model, that movement continues to gather stream as venues – and artists and sports teams – look for ways to increase revenues and manage more of their assets. . .

“More than ever, venues want to be empowered. The dominance of the Internet and the flexibility of today’s market now give us the opportunity to introduce a new ticketing model,” Rosen said in a prepared statement. “There’s been a significant shift in what venues are looking for in the marketplace. I’ve come on board to reshape the way we see ticketing and the way we understand customers. The timing is right and AudienceView is the company to implement this new strategy.”

During a keynote address Wednesday at the secondary industry conference TicketSummit 2007, Rosen gave a simple answer for why he decided to take on the new challenge of heading up AudienceView.

“Ticketing is something that gets in your blood and stays there,” he told a crowd of 600 brokers, software providers and other industry insiders.

AudienceView co-founder Kevin Kimsa said he is excited that Rosen has joined the team. “Fred Rosen’s influence on the ticketing industry is monumental,” Kimsa said in a prepared statement. “His proven success is matched by a clear vision for this company and he will no doubt make a strong impact at AudienceView and within the industry going forward.”

Speaking about Rosen during TicketSummit 2007, Donald Vaccaro, president and CEO of TicketNetwork, the event’s organizers, said Rosen changed the model of ticket distribution with Ticketmaster, and he has no doubt of his continued success in his latest venture.

“There was one person in this industry who you always wanted to know about because of abilities in the industry, and you would ask, ‘What’s Fred doing?’” Vaccaro said.
