Michael Bublé, whose velvety tones have drawn comparisons to a young Frank Sinatra, leads a list of music artists with onsales for the weekend ending Feb. 11. Pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne and former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters are also holding onsales this weekend, as compiled by TicketNews.
The 32-year-old Bublé has won multiple Grammys and Juno awards (Canadian Grammys) in his relatively short career. His total album sales have topped 11 million worldwide, he acted and sang in the film “Duets,” which starred Gwyneth Paltrow, and his songs have been included in other movie soundtracks. His onsales are for shows on the East Coast and in Michigan and Indiana.
In other onsales, Indie darling Ani DiFranco upcoming Los Angeles show at the Orpheum Theatre is listed. DiFranco, who has built her successful career through DIY marketing and recording, has a few West Coast shows lined up for 2008. Also, the wildly popular teen act Jonas Brothers continue their march through the nation with onsales for several upcoming East Coast shows.
On the sports front, NASCAR offers onsales for a pair of races in North Carolina later this year, including the Sprint Cup: Bank of America 500. Also, the grapplers of World Wrestling Entertainment have some onsales this weekend for upcoming shows.
“Onsales” is a ticketing industry term describing when tickets initially go on sale to the general public. Each week, tickets are released by promoters, venues and others to dozens of events, but the number of tickets available can vary significantly between locations.
