Galway, Ireland based super group The Saw Doctors, direct from a string of successful UK Festival dates and their first-ever block of European club dates, have announced a 13-city east coast U.S. tour, August 7-24.
In addition to clubs, the award-winning band will be playing some noteworthy outdoor festivals including the Metro NY Balloon & Music Festival on Long Island, NY (August 9), Governors Island Concert Series in New York City (August 23) and two nights at the Milwaukee Irish Fest (August 16-17). The band wraps up its tour with a headlining performance at the Buffalo Irish Festival in Buffalo, NY (August 24).
Since their first visit in 1991, the Irish rockers have made more than 55 successful trips to the U.S., including the recent March 2008 string of US dates celebrating their rarities release, “That Takes The Biscuit,” where the band played to sold out crowds from Washington, D.C. to Boston, MA, including a St Patrick’s Day two-night celebration at Nokia Theatre in Manhattan..
Now in their 20th year as a touring band, they received the 2008 Meteor Irish Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. The group revolves around the songwriting partnership of Davy Carton (vocals) and Leo Moran (guitars). On stage, the line-up also includes former Waterboy, Anthony Thistlethwaite (bass guitar, saxophone), Kevin Duffy (keyboards, vocals), and Eimhin Cradock (drums, vocals).
