Due to a severe, undisclosed illness, seminal punk rockers The Damned will not be able to complete the North American dates of their world tour. Five concerts have been affected: December 29 at the Black Cat in Washington, DC; December 31 at the Blender at Gramercy in New York, NY; January 2 in the Wonder Bar (formerly booked into the Stone Pony) in Asbury Park, NJ; January 3 at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA; and January 4 at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA.

Refunds are available at the point of purchase. Neither the press release about the cancellation nor the band’s Web site said who was ill and to what extent.

Since October, The Damned have been on tour throughout the U.S. and UK in support of their latest album, “So, Who’s Paranoid?,” which was released in the United States on December 12. The group performed six concerts on the West Coast from October 29 through November 2 before heading back to the United Kingdom.

“At this time, the band wishes to extend their apologies to their fans and look to reschedule shows soon,” said concert and tour promoter Live Nation in a statement.
