Psychedelic rock group Dr. Dog will hit the road next week for a 15-date winter tour promoting its upcoming spring album. But after that brief three-week run, the indie rockers will return for another 24-date turn across the nation this spring.
The first leg of the tour kicks off January 27 at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY, and continues through February 13 at State Theatre in State College, PA. The band will stop for shows on January 29 at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI; February 4 at Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI; and February 12 at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH.
After a brief break from the road, Dr. Dog will be back for its spring trek, which runs from April 14 at Lee’s Place in Toronto, ON, through May 15 at Terminal 5 in New York, NY. During that time, the band will perform a couple of two-night stands on April 24-25 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA, and May 11-12 at Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA.
Ticket sales for the spring tour begin on January 22 in a few select markets. More tour and ticketing details are available on the official Dr. Dog Web site.
Dr. Dog is preparing for its sixth album, “Shame, Shame,” which is set for release on April 6.
The full-length effort is the band’s first with Anti- Records since moving on from its longtime home at Park the Van. Dr. Dog released all of its previous records through that independent label, including 2008’s “Fate,” which peaked at No. 86 on the Billboard 200.
