Elton John, Monster Jam, and Hamilton ruled the roost in February, according to data from Ticket Club. The rocking pianist was the best-selling concert for the shortest month of the year, while Monster Jam anchored sports and Hamilton continued its domination of the theatre world.
It was no surprise to see Elton John would ranked at No. 1, since his 2018 Farewell tour just went on sale. The iconic star is set to go out with a bang – his three-year, 300-city Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour is surely one fans won’t want to miss. Sales across the tour itself – which technically launches in September, sold spectacularly from day one, while existing shows the performer already had on his calendar in Las Vegas also picked up.
Hamilton has become something of an expected thing atop the theatre charts, but Monster Jam taking No. 1 in sports came a touch unexpectedly. While it only counted for the first few days of the month, Super Bowl LII was also a February event, but the volume the popular monster truck event across the country was enough to outdo the biggest event of the year.
In terms of performers, Journey and Def Leppard followed John with the second best-selling act, as well as popstars Bruno Mars and Cardi B close behind. Justin Timberlake made an appearance as well – even though his tour was announced in January. The “prince of pop” might even stay on this list, as the tour approaches and his latest record, Man of the Woods, gains more exposure. Ed Sheeran notably made the list just under No. 10, presumably assisted by his record-breaking sales in Australia. Artists Pink, Metallica, and Pearl Jam all made a significant number of sales, due to current tours.
