Last week, rapper Drake visited one of his top fans in the hospital as she awaited a new heart, and after weeks, she just received a transplant.
The 11-year-old Sofia Sanchez has taken the world by storm with her adorable smile and birthday wishes. Sanchez, who was in the hospital awaiting a heart transplant, posted a Facebook video as a part of the #KikiChallenge viral meme where she danced to the “In My Feelings” lyrics from Drake’s latest record, Scorpion. The video showed Sanchez jumping out of her wheelchair in a hospital hallway and dancing while still attached to her IV, asking the singer to come visit her.
To her surprise, the little fan was visited by Drake on August 20, which also happened to be her birthday, at Chicago’s Lurie Children’s Hospital. He entered the room saying, “You asked me to come, I’m here!”
She shared another video, discussing her birthday wishes.
“To meet Drake, and that one did happen, and it was great,” she said. “And my other wish is to get a heart, which is gonna happen soon.”
Her mom revealed in the video that she would indeed be getting a heart, to which Sanchez responded excitedly, “I’m getting a heart, mom!” The video went viral, earning attention from Good Morning America. According to the Associated Press, Sanchez received a heart transplant yesterday.
Drake made the visit to Sanchez while on his current massive North American tour. He will hit Brooklyn, New York next for a three-day stop on August 30, 31, and September 1.
