After nearly 25 years, the Doobie Brothers are planning to reunite with their former frontman Michael McDonald for a North American tour in 2020, celebrating the band’s career.
The 30-date trek will kick-off early June in West Palm Beach, Florida, followed by gigs in Raleigh, Nashville, St. Louis, Irving, and Phoenix. Along the way, they’ll stop at venues like Charlotte’s PNC Music Pavilion, Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, and Los Angeles’ The Forum before wrapping-up at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston on October 10.
“We’re truly excited about our 50th Anniversary Tour, as it’s a celebration of the band’s entire history,” singer-guitarist Tom Johnston said in a statement. “We’ll be performing songs from our full catalog, as well as new music.”
On Monday night, the Doobie Brothers welcomed McDonald to the stage at their show in Nashville, where the group performed “Takin’ It To The Streets.” For years, members Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons, and John McFee have continued to perform together and are gearing up for a previously-announced Las Vegas residency in February 2020.
