English punk rock band Buzzcocks has announced plans for a special tour of the UK to support the reissue of the band’s first three full-length albums. The Another Bites Tour begins January 13 at Lemon Grove in Exeter, ENG, and wraps with a January 30 gig at Shepherds Bush Empire in London, ENG.
Highlights for the 14-date trek include a January 16 performance at Academy in Manchester, ENG, and a January 29 show at Junction in Cambridge, ENG. The band will stop in Scotland for one gig on January 19 at ABC in Glasgow.
The performances on the tour will feature cover-to-cover performances of Buzzcocks‘s March 1978 debut “Another Music in a Different Kitchen” and that year’s September follow-up “Love Bites.” Both albums, along with 1979’s “A Different Kind of Tension,” will be reissued in the UK as two-disc editions with bonus tracks, demos and live cuts on October 27.
The early 2009 tour, which takes its name from the two albums being performed, will also feature other songs by Buzzcocks. However, the band is best known for the “Love Bites” track “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve),” which has been covered by artists such as Fine Young Cannibals, Anti-Flag, Pete Yorn and Of Montreal.
In the 30 years since their debut, Buzzcocks have released 11 albums, including two live records and a “Peel Sessions” set with the famed English DJ John Peel. The group released their most recent album, “Flat-Pack Philosophy,” in 2006.
