When it comes to touring, country king Keith Urban will get by with a little help from his friends in 2009. The singer-songwriter recently announced plans to hit the road for an early summer trek with a number of big-name acts.

Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, Sugarland, Glen Campbell, Lady Antebellum, and The Zac Brown Band will all provide support for select dates of Urban’s North American tour. Although specific dates have not been confirmed, the tour is expected to begin in May and continue through the summer.

“We intend to give people their money’s worth, for sure,” Urban said of the upcoming tour on his official Web site. “We’re looking forward to seeing fans’ reactions to the new material, and we’re seeing how we can put a few new twists on some older material. We’ll play for as long as the venues will let us.”

During the outing, Urban will support his upcoming March 31 release, a follow-up to 2006’s “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing.” The record peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and topped Billboard‘s country albums chart, just as its 2004 predecessor “Be Here” did. Urban made his American debut in 1999 with his certified-Platinum eponymous album, which hit the No. 145 on the Billboard 200.

Urban completed his last North American tour in April, after performing more than 30 concerts with fellow country chart-topper Carrie Underwood on the Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride Tour. That outing followed up his 72-date world tour that stretched from April through December 2007.
