Peter Murphy, regarded as the “Godfather of Goth,” is mounting a 34-city U.S. “Retrospective” tour beginning May 30 in Seattle, WA and finishing up July 13 in San Antonio, TX.

Murphy is best known as the lead singer of Bauhaus, the post-punk rock band of the early 80’s. Bauhaus first broke up in 1983, which led Murphy to a solo career, where he scored a number of hits, including “Cuts You Up”, “All Night Long” and “The Sweetest Drop.”

Bauhaus reunited for a 1998 tour but the group announced plans to disband again before the March 3, 2008 release of their final album, “Go Away White.”

Murphy’s most recent studio album, “Unshattered,” was released in 2004 and promoted by U.S. and European tours in 2005 with a band that included members of Skinny Puppy and The Mission UK. The band hooked up again in 2007 for shows in Portugal and Spain.

Opening for Murphy is Iranian-American troubadour Ali Eskandarian, who has been compared to Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley. His debut album “Nothing To Say,” which draws influences from American folk, rock and traditional Persian music, is on iconic folk singer Judy Collins’ Wildflower record label.

On the upcoming Retrospective tour, in addition to his solo material, Murphy will also perform Bauhaus songs.
