Kings of Leon is a Nashville-based Southern rock band consisting of brothers Nathan, Caleb and Jared Followill, and their cousin Matthew Followill. The quartet debuted in 2003 with "Youth and Young Manhood," and steadily grew in popularity, especially on the nation's independent music scene. However, when Kings of Leon released its fourth album "Only by the Night" in September 2008 along with the single "Sex on Fire," the band's popularity exploded. Concert dates booked before the album release visited clubs and theaters around the U.S. and Canada, while additional tour legs in 2009 saw the band in arenas and stadiums around the world. Both in North America and internationally, Kings of Leon has performed to packed houses and became one of the most popular new rock bands touring at the time. In addition to its regular concert plans, the family band has also been scheduled to headline major international concert events, notably the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK.
