Miley Cyrus

Teen pop singer Miley Cyrus got her start on cable television's Disney Channel, a girl and her pop-star alter ego, Hannah Montana. The young performer, daughter of country musician Billy Ray Cyrus, quickly gained a dedicated target audience through her television series that translated to album sales when she released her 2006 soundtrack debut "Hannah Montana" and its 2007 follow-up "Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus."

Cyrus's concerts are often a blend of reality and fiction, as she trades off between herself and her alter-ego during live performances. On tour, the demand among Cyrus's young fan base has broken attendance records for one-off events and sold out arenas during her headlining shows.

Because of high demand for her performances, Miley Cyrus tickets often fetch a high price on the secondary ticket market. This has caused outrage among parents and legislators alike, who have pushed through "Hannah Montana" laws in several states, seeking to block brokers from using software "bots" to scoop up large blocks of concert tickets.

John Mayer, Miley Cyrus, Imogen Heap and more: Daily tour recap

By Allison Reitz

Ticket resale troubles for Garth Brooks and a last-minute cancellation from Bruce Springsteen's camp lead the daily tour recap for October 27, as compiled by TicketNews.

Twenty sold-out concerts were no problem for Garth Brooks, who begins his five-year residency at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas this December. But fighting ticket scalpers has turned into a major process for the performer and casino CEO Steve Wynn. Today was the deadline for attendees to submit a full list of guests who will accompany them to Brooks' concerts. Those who missed the deadline, or don't show proper ID on the night of their event, run the risk of having their tickets cancelled. Read the full story here.

Paperless ticketing at Miley Cyrus concert goes smoothly despite postponement

By Allison Reitz

Rescheduling a concert that's exclusively using paperless ticketing isn't that big of a deal, at least as far as the Qwest Center in Omaha is concerned.

When Disney starlet Miley Cyrus fell ill at the beginning of the month, she was forced to postpone an October 2 show at the Nebraska venue until October 13. The date change -- from a Friday to Tuesday evening -- had some wondering whether some fans might be shut out from the show due to its paperless ticketing.

Miley Cyrus concert postponed in Omaha, paperless solution may be in the works

By Allison Reitz

After struggling with a case of strep throat earlier this week, teen sensation Miley Cyrus has been forced to postpone her October 2 show due to the illness.

The Disney starlet was scheduled to hit the stage tomorrow night at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE. Instead, the show has been rebooked for October 13, when it will start at 7 p.m., and the venue is hoping to resolve any difficulties that may arise because of the paperless system in place for the tour.

Miley Cyrus tour: Premium tickets slowly being put back on the market

By Alfred Branch Jr.

Just days before the first concert, organizers of Miley Cyrus's latest tour are slowly releasing premium tickets back onto the primary market, in what appears to be a bid to jump-start soft sales. The once highly anticipated tour features an all paperless ticketing system, a move which has drawn criticism from some due to the logistics of having to scan in all attendees.

Over recent weeks, small packs of four to eight premium tickets have been placed back into the market for shows on both the East and West coasts, shows that had been listed as sold out. The screen shot below is of tickets pulled today from Ticketmaster for the September 16 show in Tacoma, WA; the seats are in a prime location just to the left of the stage.

eBay removes all Miley Cyrus tickets for upcoming tour

By Alfred Branch Jr.

Online auctions giant eBay has pulled down all Miley Cyrus tickets from its site, but the company denies it was pressured to do so by her representatives.

The 'tween singing sensation's entire upcoming tour is utilizing paperless tickets, a controversial move that has led to complaints from brokers and fans for being an inconvenience and which contributed to lagging initial sales. Cyrus's handlers made no secret of their desire to keep as many tickets out of the hands of brokers and scalpers for this tour, unlike her last one two years ago which was a public relations disaster. The Cyrus camp is scalping some tickets itself, however.

By Jane Cohen & Bob Grossweiner

Teen superstar Miley Cyrus, who launches her first UK tour in December, is an obvious hit across the pond.

Her original eight-date UK tour has been expanded to 10 shows with the addition of two more London concerts, due to fan demand.

After quickly selling out her December 13-14 concerts at London's 02 Arena, two shows were added for December 19-20. The shows follow her December 16-17 concerts at Dublin’s 02 Arena that sold out in 10 minutes. Tickets for the new London concerts go on sale June 19.

Miley Cyrus's VIP packages offer ticket transfers from buyer to 'attendee'

By Allison Reitz

Because of the restrictions placed on paperless ticketing, individuals hoping to buy Miley Cyrus tickets as a gift for a friend or family member might be out of luck if they can't personally chaperone their young guests. But for fans who want to buy and immediately transfer their tickets, there could be another, albeit more expensive, option.

The Disney singer's VIP ticket packages, sold exclusively through ILoveAllAccess.com, allow ticket buyers to designate someone else as the intended ticket recipient. Unlike standard paperless tickets, the VIP package is verified at the venue doors by this personally selected "attendee" name rather than the order's credit card billing information.
