Robert Plant introduced his new musical project, the Band of Joy, to American audiences earlier this year. Now the living rock legend has unveiled a second leg of national dates to ring in the New Year with the group.
A total of 15 concert dates are lined up for the early year jaunt, which opens on January 19 with a performance at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, NC. The Band of Joy’s new 2011 calendar runs through a February 8-9 stand at War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
The schedule includes events on January 19 at Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA; January 25 at the House of Blues in Boston, MA; January 29 at Beacon Theatre in New York, NY; and February 5 at Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA. A single Canadian concert is booked for January 22 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto, ON.
Public ticket sales for the tour open on November 19 and 20 in the United States, and on November 22 in Toronto. Face values vary depending on the market, but most tickets are priced in the range of $45 to $85, not including fees, based on Ticketmaster.com’s event listings.
Plant first unveiled the Band of Joy during a two-week July 2010 tour. The Band — comprised of Patty Griffin, Darrel Scott, Byron House, Marco Giovino, and Buddy Miller — also released an eponymous album with Plant on September 13.
The North Mississippi Allstars, appearing as a duo with brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson, will open all dates of the early 2011 tour leg. Updates for the upcoming Band of Joy tour are available through Plant’s official Web site.
The Band of Joy recently completed a tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland that ran from mid-October into early November.
