On Tuesday, post-punk queens Sleater-Kinney announced that the band would be going on ‘indefinite hiatus’ immediately following the handful of shows scheduled for this summer, stopping at this year’s Lollapalooza festival in Chicago before a farewell show in Portland.

After 11 years of steady touring mixed with regular releases, (with maybe their strongest effort, The Woods that came out last summer), the rock trio stated no reason for the break-up> However, they did stress that the dissolving of the band was no mere temporary idea.

“The upcoming summer shows will be our last. As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings,” stated their press release.

Sleater-Kinney will be playing their final six concerts in Louisville, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago and Portland.

Fans of the band can keep their hopes up that these three ladies will appear in other musical projects (although not together) sooner than later.
