Modern day renaissance-man Jamie Foxx is taking a break from filming, stand up comedy, and recording for his first major US Concert tour this winter/spring. Beginning the day after Christmas Foxx will hit cities from coast to coast in support of his recent studio effort, Unpredictable.
Foxx’s career to this point can certainly be described as such. No one familiar with his In Living Color ‘Wanda’ character would have ever guessed he’d win an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles. Unpredictable is Foxx’s second studio release and has already become his most successful. After showing off his musical talents in Ray, Kanye West’s Golddigger, and Ludacris’s Georgia, Foxx has accrued quite a bit of musical credibility prior to touring.
The first single and title track of the new album peaked inside the top 10 of Billboards Hot 100 and inside the top 20 on the UK top 20 singles chart. Since the release Unpredictable, 1.7 million copies have been sold. Rumors are also swirling about possible cameos on tour from several of the album’s contributors including Ludarcris, Mary J. Blige, The Game, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, and Common. Foxx’s 27 show tour will span almost five months. Presumably, the larger gaps in his tour will allow him continue his normal filming schedule. Tickets are already on sale and going quickly.
