Thomas Dolby is to appear at Austin’s fabled South by Southwest Festival March 15, to perform a set as part of a tour planned for CA and TX, beginning March 10, at Santa Cruz, CA at Kuumbwa PM. The electronic pioneer Dolby hit the road last spring following a 15-year absence from the limelight. November’s, “The Sole Inhabitant”, a CD and DVD which featured live performances from the November tour, was Dolby’s first release since 1992’s “Gate to the Mind’s Eye”, and the grand master is poised to electrify audiences once more.

The spring trek will feature San Francisco supercool jazz players The Jazz Mafia blowing their brass horns, with Rich Armstrong on trumpet, Adam Theis on trombone and Ron Cohen playing sax. Dolby plans to dazzle the crowds with his novel preoccupation with computer-generated sounds, saying recently, “I hope that the DVD and CD helped re-establish my credentials as an artist before I move into the next chapter. I have new songs ready to start work on as soon as I’ve closed the loop and reconnected with the core fan base.”
