Punk cabaret/theatrical rock duo The Dresden Dolls kick off a 14-date, North American headlining tour Dec. 27 in Washington DC at the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue. The trek also includes a New Year’s Eve show at the Grand Ballroom in New York before wrapping up Jan. 13 at the Norva Theater in Norfolk, VA. Meow Meow, Two Ton Boa and Luminescent Orchestrii will be opening on various dates along the way.

“This tour is all about the fun,” said drummer Brian Viglione in a statement. “Everyone’s batteries are charged and we’re ready to cut loose with the fans and go nuts. I’m looking forward to playing a lot of songs that we didn’t get to play on tour last year and pulling out some new surprises — and maybe a rubber chicken or two.”

Singer/pianist Amanda Palmer, the other half of the duo, said the pair were “hungry” to get back on stage. “I love the post-hangover time of winter; it’s like the last gasp of the holidays coupled with a healthy dose of reflection. We’re planning on a simple, stripped-down, go-out-on-stage-destroy kind of show. Of course, I always say that and we wind up with a ton of people on stage, doing weird things. How does that always happen?”
