Whistler, British Columbia will be the home of a new festival, The Whistler Music Festival, July 19-20. The Festival Network, which develops, acquires and produces music festivals and live entertainment properties in unique destinations around the world, is the festival producer. The expected roster of artists for the Canadian event has not yet been released, but is being described as representing “sophisticated music genres.”

“We are looking forward to a long-term relationship with the Whistler community, bringing first-class entertainment to a world-class ski resort,” said Thomas B. Shepard, Festival Network’s CEO, in a statement. “Add great music to all the activities Whistler offers each July, and you have a summer as magical as ski season.”

In addition to Whistler, Festival Network’s 2008 schedule includes eight JVC Jazz Festivals in the U.S. and abroad, plus major festivals in Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Newport, RI and Bermuda.
