Guitar god Eric Clapton, who is scheduled to begin a tour in May, leads a pack of musical artists who dominate ticket onsales for this weekend and into Tuesday, March 12, as compiled by TicketNews.
Clapton’s tour will take him to various North American cities during the spring and summer, and several shows are slated to go on sale over the weekend. He has a legendary 40-plus year career, and he was recently invited to play in North Korea, a move that if he were to accept would follow the recent successful trip by the New York Philharmonic to the country.
Fellow British star Robert Smith and his band The Cure are also on the road and have several onsales this weekend. The ‘80s and ‘90s darlings are among the bands recently for the upcoming Sasquatch Festival in late May in Quincy, MA.
Other artists with onsales this weekend include multiple Grammy winner Alicia Keys, who will have American Idol winner Jordin Sparks touring with her, and Scottish sensation KT Tunstall, who is touring in support of her latest album “Drastic Fantastic.”
“Onsales” is a ticketing industry term describing when tickets initially go on sale to the general public. Each week, tickets are released by promoters, venues and others to dozens of events, but the number of tickets available can vary significantly between locations.
