Stand-up comedian, actor and author Lewis Black kicks off his new tour, “Lewis Black Live: Let Them Eat Cake,” May 1 at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, and he will travel to more than 30 markets nationwide with dates set through May 18. More shows will be announced. Live Nation is the promoter along with Comedy Central.

Currently, Black stars in Comedy Central’s “Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil” that airs on Wednesday nights. The series pits either two people such as Kim Jong Il and Tila Tequila or pop culture topics such as Yo Tube vs. Porn against each other in an open debate setting. A rotating group of comedians take the stage and argue who or what is most evil with Black making the final decision.

Black is a passionate performer who is more of an angry optimist than a mean-spirited curmudgeon. Receiving critical acclaim, he performs more than 200 nights a year to sell-out audiences throughout Europe, New Zealand, Canada and the U.S. He is one of the few performers to sell out multiple, renowned theatres, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, New York City Center and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He received a Grammy last year for “Best Comedy Album” for “The Carnegie Hall Performance” stand-up CD released by Comedy Central Records.
