Concerts from Celine Dion and tickets to the 2008 Teen Choice Awards top the onsales for the week ending May 10th, as compiled by TicketNews.
Canadian songstress Dion, who wrapped up a hugely successful Las Vegas residency in December, has two upcoming tour stops on sale this weekend, with tickets available on Saturday to a show in Toronto, and tickets to her concert in New Orleans also available over the weekend. The week also offers concerts from Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, and Steely Dan.
Tickets for Fox Television’s 2008 Teen Choice Awards go on sale Friday. The annual awards show, which honors television, music, and movie stars in a myriad of categories voted on by 12-19 year old fans, will be held in the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk in California in August. Popular recording artists Three Doors Down also have tickets on sale beginning Friday. The rock group will be embarking on a joint tour with Hinder and Staind. Recently engaged pop singer Ashlee Simpson also has several dates on sale throughout the week, as does rocker Beck.
NHL powerhouse The Detroit Red Wings have playoff tickets on sale this week. Several big name comedians also have tickets on sale, including Chris Rock, half of the Blue Collar gang: Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy, and 80’s superstar Andrew Dice Clay.
“Onsales” is a ticketing industry term describing when tickets initially go on sale to the general public. Each week, tickets are released by promoters, venues and others to dozens of events, but the number of tickets available can vary significantly between locations.
