Award-winning singer/ songwriter Phil Vassar is on the road this spring and summer, touring behind his latest album, “Prayer of a Common Man,” which was released on April 22. The album is Vassar’s fourth studio release and his label debut on Universal Records South. “‘Prayer of a Common Man’ paints a picture of my life,” said Vassar in a statement. “Experience changes you and affects what comes out in your writing.”

The first single, “Love is a Beautiful Thing,” became a Top 10 hit on country radio and the accompanying video is in heavy rotation on CMT and GAC. The album was produced by Mark Wright (Gretchen Wilson, Brooks & Dunn, and Lee Ann Womack).

Vassar taped a special for GAC, which selected him as its Artist of the Month for May. He will also be the subject of a People magazine feature, and has performances on AOL “Sessions” and CMT.com‘s “Unplugged at Studio 330” are in the offing. Vassar played a special acoustic show on April 28 at his home, which was broadcast on 20 radio stations across the U.S.

Since the 2000 release of his self-titled debut album, Vassar has been topping the charts with hits such as “Carlene,” “Just Another Day in Paradise,” “Six-Pack Summer,” “American Child,” “In a Real Love,” and “I’ll Take That As a Yes.” The only solo artist in the last decade to have his first seven singles crack the Top 15, Vassar has won a host of awards, including ASCAP’s “Songwriter of the Year,” Billboard Magazine‘s “Top New Country Artist of the Year,” Billboard’s “Country Songwriter of the Year,” Music Row Magazine‘s “Breakthrough Artist of the Year,” and the Academy of Country Music’s “Top New Male Vocalist.”
