At least one McCain is continuing on the road across America in the weeks and months following Election Day. Having recently finished an October jaunt in the UK, singer-songwriter Edwin McCain (no relation to John McCain) has plans for a variety of acoustic and full band shows booked across the U.S. into 2009.

The next scheduled show for McCain is November 14 at Ram’s Head On Stage in Annapolis, MD, with more dates following this month through November 30 at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta, GA. After a brief break, the acoustic rocker will return to ring in the New Year with four full band shows at House of Blues venues across the South — from December 26 in Dallas, TX, through January 3 in N. Myrtle Beach, SC — as well as more acoustic club shows throughout the remainder of the month.

McCain is touring in support of his June 24 release “Nobody’s Fault But Mine,” the singer-songwriter’s seventh studio record. While he usually pens most of his songs, the new record contains McCain’s covers of vintage soul and R&B tracks.

“For me it was an absolute blast, completely liberating to be playing, singing and interpreting other peoples’ songs just purely for the joy of doing it,” McCain explained in a statement on his Web site. “It was amazing to return to that era and mindset and to really understand the beauty and absolute brilliance of the music.”

Although McCain got his start in the early 1990s, his first mainstream breakthrough did not come until his 1997 album “Misguided Roses.” The single “I’ll Be” peaked at No. 5 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 and drove the album to a No. 73 peak on the Billboard 200.
