Emmylou Harris is teaming up with fellow singer-songwriters Patty Griffin and Shawn Colvin for a re-hashing of the early 2008 “Three Girls & Their Buddy” outing. The trio will appear in concert along with Buddy Miller for 10 performances in 2009, beginning with a February 3-4 run at The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA.
The Northeastern U.S. trek continues through February 22 at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, MA, including a stop on February 20 at the Beacon Theatre in New York, NY. Public on-sales for the concerts began over the weekend.
Though this is only the second collaborative outing for the group, all four musicians have long-standing professional and personal ties, and have often appeared together in the studio and in concert. In particular, Harris, Griffin and Miller toured with a couple other performers for a short stint as the Sweet Harmony Traveling Revue, while Colvin first toured with Miller in the 1980s as part of The Buddy Miller Band.
In a similar style to their January 2008 outing, the early year performances will feature all four musicians on stage together, providing accompaniment for one another’s catalogue of songs and fan favorites. Most recently, the group performed together in October at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco, CA.
