Less than a week after announcing that their co-head bill would continue into winter 2009, rock groups Buckcherry and Avenged Sevenfold have announced their updated itinerary. The new tour leg will begin January 28 at the E Center in West Valley City, UT, and wrap four weeks later on February 25 at The Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
The 17-city outing includes a February 3 concert at Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA, a February 9 performance at Star Theater at Spokane Arena in Spokane, WA, and a February 20 show at The Wolstein Center in Cleveland, OH. As stated in TicketNews’s initial tour announcement, the metal group Papa Roach and hard rock band Saving Abel will provide support throughout the tour.
Tickets for the new leg of dates go on sale today (December 12) and are priced around $40. According to 10th Street Management CEO Allen Kovac, the low face values are meant to appeal to the bands’ target demographic of 15- to 25-year-olds, who have less expendable income due to the current state of the economy.
“The idea was to take four acts that could tour alone and put them together for $40 or less to be able to let people hear three-and-a-half hours of music and experience some up-and-coming acts,” Kovac told Billboard.
Tour promoter Fred Frank released a similar statement, crediting the economic downturn with the bargain price levels. “Here is a situation where the bands realize what the economy is doing and have put together an incredible package that gives the fans more than their money’s worth,” Frank explained.
Buckcherry is touring behind its fourth studio album, “Black Butterfly,” which was released September 16. On the same day, and Avenged Sevenfold released the live CD/DVD set “Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough,” a follow-up to their 2007 eponymous release. Both bands recently completed the first 20 dates of the co-headlining run on December 3 at UCF Arena in Orlando, FL.
