After five weeks at the top, Radio City Music Hall can no longer lay claim to the title of number one venue, according to TicketNews’ exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, December 7. That title now belongs to Dolphin Stadium, which unseats Radio City with a power score of 3.63. The Stadium, home field to the Miami Dolphins football team, also will be host to the Orange Bowl. Radio City drops to number two this week, staying closely behind Dolphin Stadium with a power score of 3.48. Ticket sales for tightly scheduled daily performances of Radio City’s Christmas Spectacular are keeping this venue a top competitor.

The Gershwin Theatre once again follows Radio City in our rankings, power scoring a 3.00 this week. Strong ticket sales for Wicked, which leads TicketNews’ Top Broadway Events and Top Theater Events rankings week after week, help to keep the Gershwin a solid top five finisher. TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA holds onto the number four position again this week with a power score of 2.65. The Garden, home court to the popular Boston Celtics, will also host upcoming concerts by Metallica and comeback kid Britney Spears as she begins her Circus tour in March 2009.

Madison Square Garden (MSG) drops two this week to the number five slot. With a power score of 2.62, MSG remains a solid top five performer, enjoying strong ticket sales for Cirque Du Soleil’s production of “Wintuk”, and the WWE tour, as well as New York Knicks basketball. The Georgia Dome hits at number six (2.15) this week, up two from last week. College football is keeping the Dome in the top ten, as fans flocked to the Dome this week to see the Florida Gators beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game, and they’ll go again to see the Chick-Fil-A Bowl on New Year’s Eve pitting the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets against the LSU Tigers.

Next in the rankings is the number seven Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Power scoring a 1.59 this week, the venue can thank a roster filled with top-selling acts and sports such as the December 2 Celine Dion concert, two dates on the Britney Spears tour, and Los Angeles Lakers basketball, for its repeated top ten finish. The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey makes an appearance at number eight this week, also power scoring a 1.59. In the coming months, the Center will host a number of popular artists such as Metallica and Britney Spears. Yet another concert venue, the Toyota Center, ranks in our top ten this week, landing in the number nine slot. With a power score of 1.39, the Toyota Center will see a number of top artists over the next few months, including holiday favorites the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Lil’ Wayne, Elton John and Billy Joel, and Nickelback. Rounding out this week’s top ten is Giants Stadium, with a big drop of four down to number ten (1.37). The home field to division leaders New York Giants and New York Jets will host the teams’ NFC and AFC playoff games in January 2009.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
