How venues are navigating the tricky expanse of the ticket market will be the focus of one lively panel discussion at Ticket Summit NYC, January 6-8 at the Waldorf=Astoria in Manhattan.

“Box Office Blues: Venue Issues in the Evolving Market” will look at the many developing trends that are emerging in the box office and ticket industry from new entrants in the market (Live Nation) to the evolving relationship between the primary and secondary ticket companies.

From the panel description: “Ticket Auctions, Seat Licenses, Electronic Tickets… You’ve seen venues, teams and promoters adapting to these market changes – what about you?”

Organizers of Ticket Summit have put together an impressive group of speakers for the discussion. They are, Bill Dorsey, executive director of the Association of Luxury Suite Directors; Dave Brooks, writer/editor at Venues Today; Karen Sullivan, Vice President of Ticketing for the Meadowlands Sports Complex; Brian Gale, Director of Marketing for the Prudential Center Arena in New Jersey; Pat McCaffrey, ticket director for the Cincinnati Reds; and Dave Touhey, an executive with the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.

“Like all of our panels, this one is packed with interesting speakers who will offer a wide range of opinions,” said Dan Pullium, one of the organizers of Ticket Summit. “Our goal was to give brokers and ticketing executives a unique perspective on what venues are dealing with, and I think we’ve not only met our goal but exceeded it with this panel.”

Ticket Summit NYC is one of two ticket conferences planned for 2009 by parent company TicketNetwork, which also owns TicketNews. The second Ticket Summit is scheduled for July 15-17 in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas show is entering its fourth year and will be held again at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.
