Black Lips tour announces ‘200 Million Thousand’ dates

Indie rockers the Black Lips have a busy touring season ahead as they prepare for a nearly 40-show U.S. stint. The coast-to-coast trek begins February 26 at Bottletree in Birmingham, AL, and concludes May 2 at Glass House in Pomona, CA.

Featured gig stops for the trek include a February 27 show at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA, a March 9 concert at Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY, a March 21 appearance at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, TX, a March 30 performance at The Social in Orlando, FL, and an April 30 set at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA.

The Black Lips will be touring behind their fifth studio album “200 Million Thousand,” which is scheduled for a February 24 release on Vice Records. The disc is a follow-up to 2007’s critically acclaimed “Good Bad Not Evil,” which earned the band it’s first spot on the Billboard charts, hitting No. 18 on Top Heatseekers.

“On [‘Good Bad Not Evil’] we were really inspired by ourselves, especially our first two albums,” said vocalist and guitarist Cole Alexander on the band’s Web site. “I think our work really transcends all genres and continues to influences us all on a daily basis.”
