Paul McCartney will headline at the David Lynch Foundation’s benefit concert, “Change Begins Within,” at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY, on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. Ringo Starr, Sheryl Crow, Donovan, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, Moby, Paul Horn, Bettye LaVette and Jim James are special guests while David Lynch, Russell Simmons, Laura Dern, and other surprise guests will be presenters.
General admission tickets are priced from $79.50 to $504.50 and include a $4.50 facility fee. Tickets go on sale March 9 at 11 a.m. VIP tickets are $1,250 and $2,500, and packages are priced at $12,500; $25,000; and $100,000.
The David Lynch Foundation has provided scholarships since 2005 for more than 60,000 students, parents, and teachers to learn to meditate throughout the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The Foundation also funds independent university research on the effects of the Transcendental Meditation.
“Change Begins Within” will raise funds to teach one million at-risk children to meditate giving them life-long tools to overcome stress and violence and promote peace and success in their lives. In 1968, the Beatles, Donovan and Paul Horn traveled to India to study Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The trip’s impact was evident on their music and is credited for the acceptance of meditation in the West today.
McCartney said his Transcendental Meditation practice has helped him personally over the past 40 years. “In moments of madness, it has helped me find moments of serenity,” McCartney said in a statement.
“It gives me great pleasure to be part of this evening,” added Starr. “I feel the aims of this charity are wonderful!”
“How great to be playing with Paul, Ringo, and Paul Horn again as we did in India in 1968,” added Donovan, “and now we see the amazing results of our work from 40 years ago to bring meditation to the whole world. It’s the same message today, which is, ‘Change begins within.'”
George Verschoor is the executive producer and co-creative director of the concert, Dan Parise is co-executive producer, and Laura Dawn is talent producer and co-creative director.

This is so great, a great concert for a great cause, if only I could go (I just hope it will be televised sometime)! And, teaching Transcendental Meditation to a million children, what a great idea!! You know, this world may become a better place after all…
It is really generous of big name artists to lend their support to worthy charities. I wondered what the buzz was, so I checked out the David Lynch Foundation website and watched the videos of how Transcendental Meditation has helped people from all walks of life. It was pretty incredible, actually. Makes me want to buy these guys’ records just to show solidarity with what they are doing. Anyway, it’s going to be a great concert.
Amazing line up of artists for the DLF benefit concert on April 4th. Wish I could be there. It was hard to get a ticket!
I have been doing TM for the last 29 years, and have only good things to say about it. We all know how much stress there is for everyone involved in the school system. Research on TM show it can reduce stress, so why not use it to reduce stress for teachers and students. They certainly need it.
Hope everyone that is gong to the McCartney concert on April 4th has a fab time. Rock on Macca!
I am so happy! I just got tickets for the show today! Yea! and I just finished my Transcendental Meditation so its a double, rock the house, happy Sunday for me. Peace!
Wow, what a show this will be! I’ve been practicing Transcendental Meditation for some years, and and I find that it is a great way to melt away stress and experience an inner calmness I never thought I had before. Peace!!
