Don Vaccaro, founder and CEO of TicketNetwork, has been named one of the finalists for the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Metro New York region.

Vaccaro was selected as a finalist from a pool of nearly sixty nominations by a panel of independent judges. TicketNetwork is a technology company that sells software for ticket brokers, operates an event ticket exchange, sells event tickets and hosts an annual ticket industry trade show and convention called Ticket Summit.

“The entire company is extremely honored to be selected as a finalist among an elite group of rapidly expanding enterprises in the region,” Vaccaro said in a statement. “The fundamentals of our success and growth are the result of a stellar, hard-working team driven to create innovative technology solutions, and provide the highest standards of customer service.”

Vaccaro founded the Vernon, CT-based company in 2002 and has overseen its explosive growth in seven years to where it now generates annual revenues in excess of $85 million. TicketNetwork employs 200 people, and it is also the parent company of TicketNews.

In its 23rd year, the Ernst & Young award now covers 135 cities in 50 countries throughout the world. The 2009 Metro New York winners are slated to be announced during a June 25 celebration event in New York City. Regional award winners are eligible to win the national Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of The Year award.

According to the company, “Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award is the world’s most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs. The award makes a difference through the way it encourages entrepreneurial activity among those with potential and recognizes the contribution of people who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement.”
