Shakira tour adds seven new concerts to U.S. itinerary
Colombian singer Shakira last week announced her return to the global tour circuit with the first three dates of a North American tour. Now that brief itinerary has expanded to accommodate seven more concerts across the nation.
Shakira’s itinerary now opens with a September 17 show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, and continues through an October 29 event at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL. Other additions include October 1 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX, and October 15 at the Sports Arena in San Diego, CA.
Public onsales begin May 14 for the seven new performance dates (listed below). Most dates of the tour feature a limited number of tickets available for $9.50, with remaining tickets priced up to $149.50. One exception is the Uncasville show, which has tickets priced at $80 and $110 on Ticketmaster.com.
Concerts were previously announced for September 21 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY; October 8 at Toyota Center in Houston, TX; and October 23 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Onsales for those three dates began on May 7.
The singer’s Staples Center gig sold out within 24 hours, according to tour producer Live Nation. But based on a May 10 search on Ticketmaster, there are at least some single tickets still available in most price points. The Los Angeles show’s limited supply of $9.50 ducats has sold out.
Because of the popularity of the Staples Center show, a second date was added for the greater Los Angeles area. That show is booked for October 25 at Honda Center in Anaheim, located about 25 miles outside of Los Angeles.
Shakira’s upcoming tour will be her first in about three years. Her previous headline outing, the 2006-2007 Oral Fixation Tour, included two extensive legs in Mexico in addition to her performances in the United States and Canada.
